Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (President: Takeshi Hashimoto, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter 'the Company') and MOL CAREER Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Kenta Watanabe; hereinafter 'MOL CAREER', Note 1) have concluded a partnership agreement (hereinafter 'the Agreement') with Osaka City's Suminoe Ward covering employment support for businesses within the ward and educational support and lifelong learning for children. A signing ceremony was held on March 26 at Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Museum 'Funesiru' (Note 2), a facility operated by the Company that promotes maritime culture, work, and learning.
While Suminoe Ward is home to a diverse range of industries, labor shortages have become a critical issue. By combining the human resources expertise and networks held by the Company Group and MOL CAREER with the ward's regional characteristics and administrative functions, all three parties will deepen their collaboration centered on the ward to support employment for local businesses — including recruitment through MOL CAREER's platform, consulting, staffing, and employee retention services such as training.
Furthermore, Suminoe Ward, where 'Funesiru' is located, is also a port of call for MOL Group's Mitsui O.S.K. Ferry services and has historically developed as a hub for ferry departures and arrivals to various destinations beyond the Company Group. Against this backdrop, the facility plays a role as a base connecting maritime shipping, logistics, and other industries with the local community. The partnership agreement with the ward has been concluded to serve as a locally rooted place of learning. Going forward, the parties will also pursue educational initiatives utilizing 'Funesiru,' aiming to create opportunities for children's education and lifelong learning through hands-on experiences themed around ships, the sea, and logistics, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the region.
