Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Takeshi Hashimoto) and MOL CAREER INC. (President: Kenta Watanabe; Note 1) have concluded a partnership agreement with Suminoe Ward, Osaka City, to support employment for companies within the ward, as well as to provide educational support for children and lifelong learning. A signing ceremony was held on March 26th at the MOL-operated facility, the MOL Museum "Funashiru" (Note 2), which disseminates the culture, work, and learning of ships.
While Suminoe Ward, Osaka City, is a region with a concentration of diverse industries, it faces a significant challenge with labor shortages. By combining the human resources expertise and network of the MOL Group and MOL CAREER with the regional characteristics and administrative functions of Suminoe Ward, the three parties will further deepen their collaboration, centered in the ward, to support the employment of local companies. This will be achieved through services provided via MOL CAREER's platform, including personnel introduction, consulting, temporary staffing, and training to support employee retention.
Furthermore, Suminoe Ward, home to "Funashiru," is also a port of call for the MOL Group's MOL Sunflower ferries and has a history of development as a departure and arrival point for ferries to various destinations, not just for our group. Against this backdrop, it serves as a hub connecting industries like shipping and logistics with the local community, leading to the conclusion of this partnership agreement with the ward as a base for community-rooted learning. Going forward, we will also engage in educational projects utilizing "Funashiru," aiming to provide educational support for children and create opportunities for lifelong learning through hands-on experiences themed on ships, the sea, and logistics, thereby contributing to the region's sustainable development.
