ModuleX Inc. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo / Representative Director: Goro Wayo), whose business domain is the Integrated Environmental Solution®, has donated the lighting design and 165 lighting fixtures to the 'e-Nexus' building, a co-creation center of the national university corporation University of Electro-Communications. The company is also providing its Integrated Environmental Solution®, which includes an environmental control system.
This facility utilizes open technology to enable flexible coordination with various systems, equipment, and sensors, realizing integrated environmental control that ensures comfort, sustainability, and expandability starting from design concepts. In recognition of this initiative, a letter of appreciation was presented by Shunichi Tano, the university president (currently advisor to the president), at the e-Nexus building completion commemorative ceremony held on January 30, 2026.
- Research Environment Development and the Potential of AI-Driven Addressable Lighting Control -
At the completion ceremony, Representative Director Wayo gave a speech on the development of the research environment and conducted an environmental control demonstration. In his speech, he introduced the addressable lighting system installed in the facility. He explained that each lighting fixture has an individual address and can be controlled using an open communication language, and that an environment has been created where researchers and students can design and verify control logic through an API.
In the subsequent demonstration, he explained the control concept of utilizing AI to optimize the relationship between 'human comfort' and 'energy consumption.' By dynamically controlling the spectrum and center of gravity of light in synchronization with changes in external light, he demonstrated the possibility of environmental control that achieves both ergonomic consideration and energy efficiency.
Furthermore, by switching the light environment in accordance with the progress of the ceremony and reception, visitors were able to experience the Integrated Environmental Solution®. Changing a single space into diverse expressions through environmental control brings about a change in the impression and feeling towards the space.
The lighting fixtures in this system are the same types that have a track record of being adopted in large-scale international projects and central government-related facilities in Japan, providing a high-standard research environment even at a national university.
