The Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts, located in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, will host a special exhibition "Kasane Irome: Fresh Green Edition – Enjoying Colors Adorned with Seasons" from May 9th to May 24th, 2026, at the MOCAD Gallery within the museum. The exhibition's theme is "Kasane Irome," a traditional Japanese aesthetic of color combinations inherited from the Heian period, which expresses seasons and occasions through layered colors. The exhibition will display Heian period costumes and furnishings, including "Fusego" (incense burners for clothing). It will also feature traditional crafts such as incense products, fan products, kumihimo, and Japanese candles, which are easily incorporated into modern life. Admission is free. The museum's EC site, MOCAD ONLINE SHOP, will also feature a special section related to the exhibition. Collaborators include Shoyeido Incense Co. and Heishichi.
