Written by an author born and residing in Shizuoka, the "Policeman and Lucky Cat" series is a slightly mysterious and deeply heartwarming story set in a seaside town modeled after Shizuoka, woven by a talking cat, Omochi, and a young policeman, Komaki.

The 4th volume, "Policeman and Lucky Cat: The Secret Photo and the Madder Red Sky," won the Grand Prize in the "Paperback You Want to See Adapted to Screen" category at the 12th Shizuoka Bookstore Awards in December 2024. In October 2025, "Policeman and Lucky Cat: The Mysterious Daily Life of the Ayakashi Town" reached its 7th reprint.

The theme of this book is Omochi's diet!? Will he lose his chubby body!? I was so surprised.

Many familiar faces from Katsubushi Town appear, and Komaki encounters various mysteries with Omochi again.

It was a story that made me reaffirm the charm of Katsubushi Town—somewhat nostalgic, warm, and a place you'd want to visit!

Now, how will Omochi's diet turn out?

This time, garbage disposal came up as a theme. Such everyday slices of life don't often appear in novels, but this series features many of them.

It's precisely because it's a rarely depicted yet real everyday life that I could feel the people of Katsubushi Town truly living.

The reassuring phrase that appears every time: "Omochi is just like that."

This value system in Katsubushi Town, which has remained consistent from the start, is a wonderful phrase that makes the sense of distance between everyone feel comfortable.
