To realize a society where everyone can choose diverse lifestyles according to their motivation and abilities, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has, since fiscal year 2014 (Heisei 26), been honoring companies, organizations, and individuals who promote women's empowerment through the 'Tokyo Women's Empowerment Award.'
We are now pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Reiwa 8 award.
1. Application Period
From Tuesday, June 30, Reiwa 8 to Monday, August 10, Reiwa 8
2. Eligibility (Open Application or Recommendation)
- Companies and organizations (excluding national and local government bodies) with their headquarters or primary business office in Tokyo
- Individuals residing or working in Tokyo (regardless of gender or organizational affiliation)
* Eligible organizations include NPOs, social welfare corporations, general incorporated associations, school corporations, national university corporations, medical corporations, etc.
Applications are also accepted from informal groups without legal status (e.g., projects, teams, organizing committees).

4. Award Categories
This year, the award categories have been revised to highlight initiatives across a broader range of fields.
Based on a comprehensive evaluation focusing on the nature and target of initiatives, including 'organizational development' and 'impact on communities and society,' awards will be presented in two categories: 'Organizational Category' and 'Community & Society Category.' (Applicants do not need to select a category at the time of application.)
* Until Reiwa 7, categories were 'Business Operator Category' and 'Community Category,' determined by applicant attributes.
5. Benefits for Awardees
- Recipients will be presented with a 'Certificate of Merit' and a 'Plaque' from the Governor (planned).
- Special feature articles will be published in magazines such as 'Nikkei Woman' and student-oriented websites to widely promote the awardees' initiatives.
- Award-winning achievements may be given bonus points in Tokyo's public works projects and commissioned service contracts (comprehensive evaluation method).
- Awardees may use the 'Tokyo Women's Empowerment Promotion Logo' on business cards, websites, and other materials.
6. Application Timeline
Reiwa 8 August–November: Selection process Reiwa 8 December: Announcement of awardees Reiwa 9 January: Award ceremony

In Reiwa 7, 11 organizations were awarded out of 72 applications.
Notable initiatives included achieving zero employee turnover due to caregiving or child-rearing, health promotion support from employees' and frontline perspectives, and successful cases leveraging human and community connections.
