As generative AI permeates society and the economy at an unprecedented speed, fostering human resources who can utilize digital technology is becoming increasingly important. The Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education launched "Tokyo Metropolitan High School AI Lab" in June, a project where students from metropolitan high schools challenge themselves to solve social issues using generative AI and other tools.

Applications are now open for the "Hackathon Program," an advanced course. In this program, participants will develop applications to solve social issues under the guidance of mentors from the professional world. We welcome applications not only from students interested in the digital field but also from all students who want to take on the challenge of problem-solving.

1. Overview

This is a hands-on program where teams of four metropolitan high school students will challenge themselves to develop problem-solving applications using generative AI and other tools. Development will proceed continuously over approximately five months, combining in-person and online sessions.

During the program, supervisors will give special lectures, and mentors from the professional world active in fields such as AI utilization, system development, and UX design will participate to provide support from problem discovery to application development. On the final day, a results presentation, judging, and awards ceremony will be held.
