First Private Company's "Stool Donation" Certified as Eligible Project for Tsuruoka City's "Tsuruoka Health Points" ~Contributing to Improving Citizens' Health Awareness through Gut Microbiome Science~

Metagen Therapeutics Inc. (Headquarters: Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture; Representative Director and CEO: Taku Nakahara)'s "Stool Donation" initiative has been certified as an eligible project for Tsuruoka City's "Tsuruoka Health Points" program for the fiscal year 2026 (Reiwa 8), effective April 1, 2026. This marks the first time a private company's initiative has been certified as an eligible project for this program.

The "Tsuruoka Health Points" is a system implemented by Tsuruoka City starting April 2025, where points are awarded for health-promoting activities such as undergoing health check-ups and participating in exercise events. It targets residents and workers in Tsuruoka City, who can earn points via Tsuruoka City's official LINE account or other means. Upon reaching every 40 points (40, 80, 120 points), participants can enter a lottery to win commemorative gifts.

The "Stool Donation" initiative, newly certified as an eligible project, is a new social contribution effort where individuals with healthy gut environments provide their stool for the development of new pharmaceuticals utilizing gut bacteria contained in stool. Metagen Therapeutics opened Japan's first stool donation facility, "Tsuruoka Stool Donation Room," in Tsuruoka City in April 2025 and is recruiting "gut bacteria donors" residing in the Shonai region.

From April 1, 2026, residents or workers in Tsuruoka City who apply to become gut bacteria donors (by answering a web questionnaire), undergo examinations for donor registration, or make a stool donation will be awarded these health points.

Through its participation in "Tsuruoka Health Points," Metagen Therapeutics aims to further popularize stool donation and contribute to improving citizens' health awareness.

Overview of "Tsuruoka Health Points" Certification (1) The following three steps implemented by Metagen Therapeutics will be eligible, with 2 points added for participation in each: * Web questionnaire within the gut bacteria donor support service "Chomusubi" * Examinations for donor registration/renewal * Stool donation at the Tsuruoka Stool Donation Room

(2) Participants in the eligible project can accumulate points by selecting the activities they have undertaken, using the Tsuruoka City official LINE account or a paper point card obtainable at Tsuruoka City counters.

(3) Metagen Therapeutics will continuously publicize and disseminate information about the health points program at the Tsuruoka Stool Donation Room and other locations.
