[About Meiji Kinenkan] https://www.meijikinenkan.gr.jp/

The main building of the Meiji Kinenkan was completed in 1881 as the "Dining Hall of the Akasaka Temporary Palace" on the current site of the State Guest House. In 1888, it served as the venue for the Imperial Conference to deliberate on the draft of the "Constitution of the Empire of Japan," and Emperor Meiji attended without fail. Because of this history, the main building is also known as the "Constitution Memorial Hall." Since moving to its current location, it has been utilized for important national and social events, including the 30th-anniversary ceremony of the promulgation of the Constitution, the 50th-anniversary ceremony of the Imperial Rescript on Education, and general meetings of the Japanese Red Cross Society and the Patriotic Women's Association. In 1947, an opening ceremony was held as a comprehensive wedding hall under the name "Meiji Kinenkan," and since then, it has celebrated the new beginnings of over 230,000 couples. Today, it is used not only for weddings but also for a wide range of purposes, including MICE events like parties and meetings, commemorative celebrations such as anniversaries and life rituals, and dining at restaurants and traditional kaiseki establishments. In 2020, the historical and architectural value of the main building was recognized, and it was designated as a Tangible Cultural Property (Structure) of Tokyo Metropolis.
