Researchmap Integration Eliminates Need for Performance Management System; "MF Faculty Evaluation DX System (Researchmap Method)" to be Officially Offered from September 2026, Achieving Low-Cost Faculty Evaluation DX

Media Fusion Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture) will begin sales of a new faculty evaluation system in September 2026 to accelerate the DX of faculty (researcher) evaluation operations. We are promoting SEaaS (SaaS Extension as a Service), a new SaaS model, aiming to provide highly scalable package and cloud systems applicable to the unique characteristics of universities and research institutions. Our existing "MF Faculty Evaluation DX System" operates on Microsoft 365 and can be extended by user administrators. This package will further evolve. Starting in September, we will officially offer the "MF Faculty Evaluation DX System (Researchmap Method)" as a package, which directly integrates with Researchmap, where many researchers in Japan register their achievements. This is a new proposal that eliminates the need for universities/research institutions to have their own systems, expensive dedicated business SaaS, or performance management systems, while remaining expandable by users. ▶ Inquiries here

● Challenge: The setup of a performance management system has been a significant burden for faculty evaluation DX.

Traditionally, when introducing a faculty evaluation system, it was often necessary to integrate with a performance management system or customize existing systems to avoid duplicate data entry by faculty and researchers. As a result, universities and research institutions faced difficulties in implementing faculty evaluation DX in the following situations:

They do not have a performance management system in the first place.

They use Researchmap as a public page for researcher information but cannot fully utilize it for evaluation tasks.

They have a performance management system, but significant customization is required to integrate it with a faculty/researcher evaluation system.

They want to reduce system introduction and operation costs.

● Solution: Achieve faculty evaluation DX by directly integrating with Researchmap without a proprietary performance management system.

Our "MF Faculty Evaluation DX System" previously assumed online integration with a performance management system or data import by administrators to avoid duplicate entry by faculty and researchers.

On the other hand, many universities and research institutions use Researchmap as a platform for publicizing researcher information. Therefore, by combining our existing "MF Faculty Evaluation DX System" with our newly developed "Researchmap Automatic Input Option (M365 Version)", we have realized the "MF Faculty Evaluation DX System (Researchmap Method)" that allows universities and research institutions without a performance management system to advance faculty evaluation DX by directly utilizing achievement data from Researchmap. This method will be offered from September 2026.

● Feature Overview

"Researchmap Automatic Input Option (M365 Version)" This option acquires achievement data such as papers, conference presentations, and Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research registered in Researchmap and reflects it in the MF Faculty Evaluation DX System operating on Microsoft 365. Development was completed in the spring of this year.

Faculty evaluation operations can be realized using the research achievement data accumulated in Researchmap, regardless of the status of the performance management system.

"MF Faculty Evaluation DX System (Researchmap Method)" In addition to automatically acquiring data from Researchmap, the MF Faculty Evaluation DX System, with the Researchmap Automatic Input Option (M365 Version) added, supports additional registration by researchers for achievement data not registered in Researchmap, as well as bulk registration by administrators. The entire system is completed on Microsoft 365, eliminating the need for dedicated server introduction and maintenance.

Furthermore, various analyses and visualizations of aggregated achievement data and faculty evaluation data can be freely performed using the BI tool Microsoft Power BI.

Faculty and researchers register additional data in Excel Online within their browser, conduct self-assessment, and then apply.

Evaluation staff reflect research achievement data automatically acquired from Researchmap into Excel forms for faculty evaluation, etc., and distribute these forms to the faculty and researchers' individual folders simultaneously.

Self-assessment results are aggregated by evaluator through the workflow and distributed to the evaluators. After the evaluation is completed, the result data is aggregated for the entire group and used for feedback to faculty and researchers.

Online acquisition of necessary achievement data from Researchmap.

Screen for Faculty/Researchers: Input and confirmation possible in Excel Online within the browser. Evaluation forms can be defined by the university/research institution.

Registration of data not in Researchmap: Supports bulk registration of data held by the evaluation department and additional registration by faculty/researchers.

High-speed bulk processing: Administrators can collectively execute the creation of individual faculty folders, access right settings, creation/distribution/collection of evaluation files, and data acquisition. It also supports processing of a large number of folders.

Adaptation to university/research institution-specific settings: Evaluation items, scoring, and weighting can be set for each department or evaluation group. System revisions each year can also be handled by parameter changes.

Power BI integration: Visualizes submission status, input errors, evaluation metrics, relationships between achievements and evaluation scores, etc., and can be used for progress management and validity confirmation of evaluation work.

● Serverless Configuration Operable on Microsoft 365

We advocate the "SEaaS (SaaS Extension as a Service)" method, which builds business systems by utilizing existing integrated SaaS environments such as Microsoft 365. With this system, DX for faculty evaluation operations is achieved on Microsoft 365 without introducing new dedicated servers.
