Japan Medical Association Releases Alert Video Amidst Nationwide Measles Outbreak

The Japan Medical Association (President: Yoshiro Matsumoto) has urgently produced and released a video on its official YouTube channel on April 30th to warn against measles, as the disease is experiencing a nationwide epidemic and there are concerns about further spread after Golden Week when human interaction increases.

The video explains that the characteristic symptoms of measles (rubeola), such as high fever, red rash, and white spots in the mouth, are often not seen in the early stages, and that symptoms are often flu-like. Therefore, during a measles epidemic, if you experience a high fever around 38℃, sore throat, runny nose/cough, or eye congestion/discharge, you are urged to suspect measles, avoid going out, and consult your family doctor.

Furthermore, when visiting a medical institution, it is requested that you inform them of your symptoms by phone in advance to prevent transmission to other patients, follow the doctor's instructions, and also consider vaccination as it is the most effective method of infection prevention.

The Japan Medical Association states, "Please watch this short video, which is just over a minute long, to increase your knowledge about measles even a little and cooperate in preventing further spread of the infection."
