~Promoting the creation of a system where health and economy coexist, based at Saiseikai Central Hospital~
Medical Implementation Support Organization Inc. (Headquarters: Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo; Representative Director: Eriko Yokoyama; hereinafter 'the Company') will hold an event in April 2026 in Minato Ward, Tokyo, in collaboration with Saiseikai Central Hospital and the Minato Ward Industrial Promotion Association. Concurrently, we announce the launch of the planning and operation of "Saichu Fan Lab," a practical community based at Saiseikai Central Hospital in Minato Ward, Tokyo, that loosely connects healthcare, businesses, and the local community.
■ Background: Why is this initiative necessary now?
Current situation surrounding hospitals and Saiseikai's mission
Management situation of medical institutions: Continuation of unprecedented "critical deficits"
Currently, hospital management in Japan is facing an extremely severe situation. According to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's "25th Medical Economic Survey (reported in November 2025)," the overall management situation of general hospitals in fiscal year 2024 has further deteriorated from the previous year. Even under difficult management conditions, hospitals are not merely "places of treatment" but are necessary for the community and are indispensable infrastructure supporting sustainability. They are also places where people from various backgrounds gather and spend time.
On the other hand, many companies are looking for an information platform where they can easily learn about various services. Hospitals are places where many people are involved, but they are also a high-barrier area for businesses.
Companies face challenges such as "not understanding on-site needs" and "lack of demonstration sites" for new services and products, while hospitals have concerns such as "being overwhelmed by sales activities." As a result, it is not uncommon for both parties to fail to achieve deep collaboration to implement socially beneficial systems. This initiative will first create a "connection" that translates this "wall of words and positions," allowing hospitals and businesses to work on regional and social issues from the same perspective.
Social Welfare Organization Imperial Gift Foundation Saiseikai
Saiseikai was founded in 1911 based on Emperor Meiji's words of "Shiyaku Kyuryo" (providing medicine and relief to the poor). Its philosophy is "Social Inclusion" (accepting all people into the community and living together). Based on this philosophy, it aims to walk together with the people of the community.
■ Overview of Saichu Fan Lab
This project is an "externally managed community" officially recognized by Saiseikai Central Hospital. It aims to be a place where participants continuously interact and repeat small experiments (projects), rather than just holding events.
Ensuring psychological safety: A place where people can talk on equal terms, removing titles, without the purpose of sales or business negotiations.
Accumulation of small practices: Aiming to be a place where local voices can be heard before development involving large investments.
Connection with the community: We will not only connect within the hospital but also with nearby libraries, industrial promotion centers, and NPOs to uncover issues rooted in daily life.
■ Management System
Saiseikai Central Hospital: Provision of fields (places), provision of medical knowledge, connection with the frontline.
Community Manager (The Company: Yokoyama): Connecting participants, designing relationships. Supporting and coordinating the implementation of the entire project.
Creative Guild (Shibuya): Planning and dialogue design, recording and disseminating activities.
■ Future Developments
Starting in April, real-world exchange meetings will be held bi-monthly. Based on the "wants" expressed by participants there, we will connect these to study groups for derived topics and marketing support for actual products and services. In the future, we plan to disseminate this as an "implementation model that balances health and economy" with Minato Ward and neighboring municipalities. We are considering workshops on health information in collaboration with the Minato Ward Industrial Promotion Center, and sessions where members of the lab can test corporate prototypes.
Participants will also have the opportunity to receive information about new services and products, so please join us. Please apply using the link below.
