MBK Wellness Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Goshi Morita), through its Hoken Dojin Frontier Business Division, conducted a survey and analysis using approximately 530,000 data points from the stress check system "HoPE Survey". The objective was to clarify the characteristics of health and organizational conditions in companies practicing health management.
Background of the Survey Analysis Ten years have passed since the stress check system was enacted in 2015, and stress checks have become well-established in many companies as a measure against mental health issues in the workplace. In recent years, the implementation of stress checks has become mandatory even for workplaces with fewer than 50 employees, further increasing their importance as a mechanism for understanding the health status of workers, regardless of company size.
On the other hand, as stress checks become widespread, "conducting them" itself has become the purpose, and how to utilize the results to improve the workplace environment and promote health management has become a new challenge for companies. As the number of companies engaged in health management increases, there is a growing expectation for effective utilization that goes beyond annual measurements, capturing year-on-year changes, verifying the effects of measures, and leading to continuous improvement.
Against this backdrop, in health management, it has become increasingly important to demonstrate, based on data, not only the implementation status of initiatives but also their effects on employee health, organizational conditions, and productivity. Annual stress checks provide a mechanism for grasping changes over time and are an effective method for continuously confirming the effects of health management measures. Therefore, our company conducted a survey and analysis using approximately 530,000 data points from the stress check system "HoPE Survey" with the objective of clarifying the characteristics of health and organizational conditions in companies practicing health management.

Survey Results Among the companies using the "HoPE Survey" stress check system provided by MBK Wellness, we compared employees of health management promoting companies with employees of other companies. Health management promoting companies were defined as those certified as Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organizations, and among them, "Health & Productivity Stock Program" and "White 500" companies were separately compared.
① Comparison of High-Stress Individual Ratios The average ratio of high-stress individuals across all companies targeted in this survey was 12.5%. When comparing the high-stress individual ratios among health management promoting companies, "White 500" and "Health & Productivity Stock Program" companies, and other companies, no significant difference was observed between health management promoting companies and other companies. However, for "White 500" and "Health & Productivity Stock Program" companies, a significantly lower high-stress individual ratio was confirmed compared to other companies.
② Comparison of Overall Health Risk The average overall health risk across all companies targeted in this survey was 91.4. Overall health risk was lowest for "White 500" and "Health & Productivity Stock Program" companies, with a difference of 5.8 compared to health management promoting companies, and 6.7 compared to other companies. When comparing health management promoting companies with other companies, no significant difference was observed in the scores for health risk A (risk due to high workload or lack of control over work). However, a clear difference was confirmed for health risk B (risk due to low support from superiors and colleagues), with health management promoting companies showing significantly lower results. Furthermore, "White 500" and "Health & Productivity Stock Program" companies showed an even lower score for health risk B, with a significantly lower result of 7.7 points compared to other companies.
Key Points from the Survey This survey analyzed approximately 530,000 stress check data points, suggesting that initiatives under the Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization certification system have a positive impact on multiple indicators such as employee stress levels, health risks, talent retention, and productivity. Particularly, "White 500" and "Health & Productivity Stock Program" companies showed lower proportions of high-stress individuals and lower health risks related to support from superiors and colleagues, leading to talent retention and improved work engagement.
