Maruzen Junkudo Bookstore All-Night Event "Midnight Junk Club" Ticket Sales Begin and Timetable Announced

Maruzen Junkudo Bookstore Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo) is releasing the second wave of information regarding the all-night event "Midnight Junk Club," which will be held as part of the 50th-anniversary celebration of Junkudo Bookstore.

"Midnight Junk Club" is a one-night-only special event that will be held simultaneously at three Junkudo Bookstore locations: the Ikebukuro Main Store, the Osaka Main Store, and the Naha Store, from 9:00 PM on Saturday, August 22, 2026, to 6:00 AM on Sunday, August 23, 2026.

Junkudo Bookstore has previously held the "Live-in Tour at Maruzen Junkudo" event, where participants spend time in the bookstore after closing, a total of nine times since 2014, offering the special experience of "spending the night in a bookstore." As a special edition to mark the 50th anniversary, this event will not only provide a space to read books comfortably until morning but also feature a variety of book-related programs.

A talk event to commemorate the publication of the co-authored book 'Osaka' by sociologist Masahiko Kishi and author Tomoka Shibasaki, published in 2021, which was previously canceled due to social conditions, will finally be realized! They will engage in a wide-ranging discussion about 'Osaka,' from anecdotes during the writing process to their current feelings about the city, spanning five years.

Story Vending Machine (Implemented at Ikebukuro Main Store and Osaka Main Store)

The "Story Vending Machine" will appear at the Midnight Junk Club as a short entertainment spot connecting people and stories in the city. You won't know what you'll get until you open it – stories related to the Midnight Junk Club speakers, or stories themed around "night" and "wandering." Please enjoy the serendipitous encounter with a story.

◇Junkudo Bookstore All-Store Fair

A fair collecting #ChinmokuNoSho (Pillow Books) solicited from customers will be held at all Junkudo Bookstore locations.

A "Pillow Book" is a favorite book you read in bed before sleeping, or a book so precious you always keep it by your pillow. This is a fair created together by bookstore staff and customers. Please come and see it!
