Reo Morikawa, a soloist at the State Theatre Halle in Germany, has been confirmed to perform at the 'Ballet Ensemble Gala 2026 Kanto Performance' hosted by Marty Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Mita Keio Residence 1F, 2-14-4 Mita, Minato-ku, Tokyo). We introduce the charm of Mr. Morikawa.

Reo Morikawa

Reo Morikawa / Profile Born in Aichi Prefecture. He began ballet at the Yoko Tagawa Ballet Academy at the age of 7 and won first place at competitions such as the Japan Grand Prix and the Kobe National Western Dance Competition.

He studied abroad at the Elmhurst Ballet School in the UK from 2016 and received the highest honor, the Barbara Geoghegan Award, at the Cecchetti Classical Ballet Awards the following year. He participated in the UK tour of the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

After graduating in 2018, he joined the Catalunya Ballet. He danced a soloist role in the premiere of Remi Wortmeyer's 'Picasso's Ballerina'.

In 2019, he moved to the Barcelona Ballet. As a principal, he performed in various works including classical, Balanchine, and contemporary.

In 2024, he transferred to the State Theatre Halle in Germany.

He then performed as the cat in Sleeping Beauty in 2023, captivating Japanese fans with his versatile expression. He has a strong reputation for playing character-rich roles, and his rich expression is a charm of this dancer.

This time, his performance with Miho Okamura of the Wrocław Opera has been decided. Expectations are high for what kind of dance they will excite us with.
