File sharing with external partners and offshore sites is now unavoidable In industries such as manufacturing (design and technical data), finance and insurance (contracts and customer data), and government agencies (resident and personal information from outsourced operations), sharing high-value files with specific contractors or overseas/external sites has become a routine part of daily operations. Due to the nature of business, organizations must frequently and continuously exchange files with certain partners, making "not sharing" an unrealistic option. The key challenge now is how to protect information once it has been shared externally.
No matter how strong your internal security, you can't protect files after they're shared "Attacks targeting outsourcing partners," ranked second in IPA's "Top 10 Threats to Information Security 2025," highlights a growing risk. In 2024, Iseto, a printing and data processing company, suffered a ransomware attack, resulting in the leakage of personal data belonging to over 3.07 million individuals across approximately 100 organizations, including local governments and financial institutions. Endpoint security solutions like EDR are ineffective on the recipient's environment. While administrative measures such as NDAs, regular audits, and checklists are fundamental to vendor management, they often become superficial over long-term relationships. With cloud adoption and remote work now standard, organizations must shift toward protecting the data itself to address post-sharing risks.
Encryption and access control that remain effective after file delivery This seminar will explain strategies and solutions for minimizing data leakage risks even when incidents occur at partner sites, assuming ongoing file exchange with external parties. Using the file encryption and IRM system "DataClasys," we will demonstrate how administrators can continue to control permissions—such as viewing, editing, printing, and copying—even after files are sent, based on real-world operational workflows. We will also clarify this data-centric layer of protection, distinct from endpoint security, including practical considerations for implementation and operation. This session is especially valuable for IT and security professionals seeking concrete solutions for secure file sharing with external partners and offshore locations.
