'Kensho Seikatsu' Nasubi Climbed Mount Everest ~Fukushima Support and Volunteering Connect New Horizons~ Talk Session with a Newspaper Reporter

The Mainichi Shimbun Business Persons' University, organized by Mainichi Shimbun Co., Ltd., has been a membership-based platform for business people active in Chiba Prefecture to learn and interact since its establishment in 1977. It has planned monthly lectures by celebrities and training tours.

The guest for April is Nasubi, a talent and actor who rose to fame in the late 1990s with a TV program project titled "Can a person live solely on sweepstakes?" The lecture, titled "'Kensho Seikatsu' Nasubi Climbed Mount Everest ~Fukushima Support and Volunteering Connect New Horizons~", will feature him sharing untold stories about his "sweepstakes life" where he started from scratch in an apartment room, his feelings for his hometown Fukushima, and how his life changed through volunteer and support activities in disaster-stricken areas.

The event will be a talk session where Yoshikazu Takeuchi, head of Mainichi Shimbun Chiba Bureau, will ask guest Nasubi for his opinions and anecdotes. We are also recruiting 60 general attendees on a first-come, first-served basis. During the lecture, baked goods and coffee from "Hotel Green Tower Makuhari," the venue, will be provided.

Nasubi was born in 1975 in Fukushima City. He rose to fame in 1998 by appearing in the "Denpa Shonen Teki Kensho Seikatsu" project of the variety show "Susunu! Denpa Shonen" (Nippon TV). Since then, he has expanded his activities as an actor. After the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident, he has continued his long-term activities to support the reconstruction of his hometown, Fukushima Prefecture. In 2016, to encourage the people of Fukushima, he successfully climbed Mount Everest on his fourth attempt. He is also exploring disaster relief activities both domestically and internationally, and support activities for the next generation, such as "Mount Fuji climbing for high school students in Tohoku." He serves as the first Fukushima Environment and Future Ambassador, Fukushima Prefecture Warm Fukushima Tourism Exchange Ambassador, Ishikawa Prefecture Culture and Tourism Ambassador, and Mountain Day Ambassador.

As of January 2026, 33 organizations, including leading companies in Chiba Prefecture, are members of the Mainichi Shimbun Business Persons' University. Over 300 regular lectures have been held so far, with participants mainly consisting of public relations and general affairs executives from member companies. We are currently recruiting new members.
