Luup, Inc. announced that it will conduct a demonstration experiment of its micro-mobility sharing service 'LUUP' in Oi Town, Fukui Prefecture, from June 1st (Mon) to November 30th (Mon), 2026, as part of its 'LUUP for Community' program. This is the fourth consecutive year of the service in the town.
Oi Town attracts 900,000 to 1 million tourists annually, but since most arrive by private car, it has been difficult to encourage movement between facilities. LUUP will serve as secondary transportation to encourage visitors to explore multiple locations.
[Service Overview] - Period: June 1st – November 30th - Pricing: First 10 minutes free, then 100 JPY per 10 minutes. - Fleet: 11 electric scooters, 4 e-bikes. - Ports: 8 locations (including JR Wakasa-Hongo Station and Oi Town Hall).
To use electric scooters, users must submit age verification documents and pass a traffic rule test via the app.
