Organized by Gekidan PUK Co., Ltd., in collaboration with Kinokuniya Shoten, the puppet theater PUK's 2026 Summer Vacation performance "Pink Dragon" will be staged from July 30, 2026 (Thu) to August 2, 2026 (Sun) at Kinokuniya Hall (3-17-7 Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo). Tickets are now on sale at Confetti (operated by Longrun Planning Co., Ltd., Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Daigo Kurematsu).

Puppet Theater PUK (Shinjuku, Tokyo) will perform the summer vacation puppet show "Pink Dragon" for four days starting July 30, 2026, at the Shinjuku Kinokuniya Hall. This beloved production, first staged in 1993, has a large fanbase, and the theater has received many requests for its revival. This summer, it makes its long-awaited appearance at Kinokuniya Hall! It's a heartwarming fantasy spun by Hatch, a girl who loves to imagine, and a timid, cowardly pink dragon. The sound of children's laughter echoing in the hall will bring a smile to adults too. It can be enjoyed by the whole family, from children to adults, across three generations.

This story was born in Bulgaria over 20 years ago. Beneath the floors of old European buildings, the atmosphere of the past quietly breathes alongside modern facilities. It's not strange for another world to suddenly unfold beyond them. In Japan too, there are places where the ordinary and the extraordinary intersect, such as caves, wells, shrines, and forests. The door to imagination is open right beside us. Today's children have smartphones and tablets readily available, learning and playing through videos. They excel at intuitively and visually understanding information and instantly processing or combining it. However, the time spent expanding their imagination from scratch and slowly envisioning a world may have decreased slightly. That is precisely why I feel that the power of imagination, which expands from within oneself, is important now. Hatch, the protagonist, expands her world while enjoying her imagination. Her journey will remind us of the richness of imagining. There is no single correct answer for parenting or for imagination. We hope this work, with the unique power of puppet theater, will be a time that gently connects the hearts of parents and children. Please enjoy it while appreciating your own world of imagination.

Story

Hatch, a mischievous girl, loves dragons! She always has her dad and mom read her dragon stories from picture books. Today is Hatch's 6th birthday party. But her mom, who couldn't take time off work, is late, and the guests haven't arrived yet. Hatch, tired of waiting, drifts off to sleep... When Hatch wakes up, she meets a small pink dragon. It's a very shy and cowardly dragon that can't even breathe fire. This is an exciting, fun, and slightly poignant story woven by Hatch, the pink dragon, and Papa Dragon.
