Longines Introduces the 'Legend Diver 59,' a Faithful Recreation of the Historic 1959 Diver's Watch

Longines, the Swiss watch brand with over 190 years of history, announces the 'Longines Legend Diver 59,' a tribute to the historic 1959 diver's watch that faithfully revives the original model down to the smallest detail. Having started manufacturing waterproof watches in the 1910s and patented the first chronograph with waterproof pushers in 1938, Longines has been a leader in water-resistant timepieces. The 1959 model remains an iconic presence. Now, it returns in 2026 as the 'Longines Legend Diver 59.'

The timepiece features the iconic two-crown design and inner rotating bezel, housed in a 42mm stainless steel case that reproduces the original's proportions. The black grained dial with metallic indices captures the aesthetics of 1959. It is certified as a diver's watch under ISO 6425 and has obtained COSC chronometer certification for the entire watch. This tool watch blends timeless heritage with cutting-edge watchmaking technology.

The innovative inner rotating bezel, first introduced by Longines in 1936, is operated by the screw-down crown at 2 o'clock. The bezel features a 60-minute scale and a luminescent triangle, enhancing safety. The black dial ensures visibility with white indices, embossed Arabic numerals, and arrow hands coated with 'Light Old Radium' Super-LumiNova®. For added safety, the tip of the second hand is also luminous. A domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating protects the dial.

The watch comes with a stainless steel Milanese mesh bracelet featuring a double safety folding clasp. An additional tropic-style black rubber strap and tool are included. Technically, the watch is ISO 6425 compliant with 30-bar water resistance. It is powered by the exclusive Longines Calibre L888.6, which includes a silicon balance spring, providing magnetic resistance exceeding ISO 764 standards and a power reserve of approximately 72 hours.
