National High School Band Competition 'TEENS ROCK' Returns to Higashiosaka! Is it Run by High School Students?

This competition, 'TEENS ROCK,' is a nationwide project now in its 23rd year, marking its 5th year in Higashiosaka. Amateur high school bands that have won their respective regional qualifiers gather in Hitachinaka City, Ibaraki Prefecture, to compete for the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award.

The winning band is granted the opportunity to perform at one of Japan's largest music festivals. With past participants having gone on to make professional debuts, the event is gaining attention as a 'gateway to success for young talent.'
