TOKYO, June 10, 2026 – Leica Geosystems AG, part of the Hexagon Group (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Hiroshi Kuwano), today announced the launch of its new generation of terrestrial laser scanners, the "Leica RTC700" and "Leica RTC500."
In the construction, surveying, infrastructure, and plant sectors, the increasing demand for shorter project timelines and the growing volume of data make it crucial to quickly share field-acquired information and utilize it for decision-making.
The newly launched Leica RTC Series addresses this challenge by connecting the entire process from scanning to data sharing and deliverable creation in real-time, enabling seamless collaboration between the field and the office to enhance project efficiency and quality.
This series features a new platform that merges the high speed and operability of the Leica RTC360 with the high accuracy and robustness of the Leica ScanStation P series. It achieves further speed improvements while supporting diverse applications and optimizing the entire workflow from scanning to deliverables.
Notably, the new "Livelink" function within Leica Cyclone FIELD 360 allows real-time streaming of acquired point cloud data to Hexagon GeoCloud (formerly Reality Cloud Studio). Data from multiple scanners can be integrated into the same project simultaneously, enabling on-site data verification and sharing. This provides a comprehensive project overview, facilitates early detection of scan omissions, and contributes to reducing revisits and rework. Not only field personnel but also office-based design and construction managers can grasp the situation in real-time. Furthermore, it enables the creation of deliverables in the office without waiting for scans to complete, realizing a new workflow where deliverable creation progresses in parallel with the project.
In Japan, the series is expected to be utilized in a wide range of fields, including construction site progress management, infrastructure maintenance, and digitalization of plant facilities.
【Key Features】
Robustness for Various Harsh Environments
Inheriting the robustness of the Leica ScanStation P series, it supports operating temperatures from -20°C to 50°C and achieves an IP55 rating.
High-Accuracy and High-Speed Data Acquisition
Achieves up to 40% higher accuracy and 35% faster data acquisition compared to the Leica RTC360, providing more reliable point cloud data. This contributes to improved quality in design, construction, and inspection processes while realizing further speed enhancements.
Reduced Rework and Increased Efficiency through Real-Time Collaboration
With the industry-first Livelink function, scan data is shared in real-time. Field personnel can check for measurement omissions on-site and address them immediately, reducing the need for re-work and site revisits.
Keisuke Nagatsuka, Business Unit Manager of the Reality Capture Division at Leica Geosystems Co., Ltd., stated, "The new RTC Series not only improves data acquisition speed but also significantly transforms collaboration between the field and the office. We are also focusing on subtle improvements, such as enhanced reliability that ensures stable operation in all environments."
