Marking its 39th year, the Arashiyama Wakaayu Festival heralds the arrival of summer in Arashiyama, coinciding with the lifting of the sweetfish (Ayu) fishing ban on the Katsura River. This charity event involves the community, local businesses, and visitors working together.
