Starting October 2026, a concert tour to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Hideki Togi, a leading figure in Japanese Gagaku, will be held nationwide, beginning with a performance in Fukuoka, followed by Tokyo, Osaka, Aichi, and other locations.

The theme of the first part is "Silk Road," tracing the origins of music. The melodies woven by ancient instruments, while being Japanese Gagaku, carry the memories of the world that traveled back and forth between East and West. We will deliver a unique stage that can only be heard here, featuring various combinations of instruments such as the Sho (mouth organ), Hichiriki (oboe), Ryuteki (flute) used in Japanese Shinto rituals, Biwa (lute), and other ancient Silk Road instruments.
In the second part, the sound transforms into rock. While centered on Japanese sounds, it intersects with Western band sounds, merging past and future, the world and Japan on a single stage.
Both the first and second parts will feature Hideki Togi's son, Norichika Togi, a guitarist who also plays Gagaku instruments such as the Sho. The father-son collaboration is the very embodiment of music being passed down to the next generation.
Please enjoy it at the venue.
Hideki Togi's Comment
Before I knew it, it's been 30 years since my album debut. Someone once told me, "Hideki Togi's presence and the role he played were so revolutionary that discussions about Gagaku are divided into 'before Togi' and 'after Togi'." I wasn't consciously aiming for it, but if I have been able to convey the value of Japan's oldest traditional culture, which we can be proud of to the world, then I can look back and feel happy that my debut was meaningful. If that's the case, I want to continue to be a revolutionary, even now, 30 years later, and into the future. The passion I had from the time of my debut has not cooled down. To convey the fascination of classical Gagaku, fun ideas serve as good starting points, and it is only with reverence and confidence in the classics that I can proudly take on new challenges. There is still much I want to convey and much I want to do. I would be very happy if you could feel Hideki Togi's "now" and dream of further possibilities together through classical pieces, past works, and new compositions.
