In recent years, 'kaidan' (Japanese ghost stories) have surged in popularity through YouTube and live-streamed programs. In 2025, the large-scale live event 'Tokyo Kaidan Collection,' themed around kaidan, was held to great acclaim.
Now, it has been announced that 'Tokyo Kaidan Collection2026' will be held again this August!
Born in 2025 as a groundbreaking new form of 'Japan's largest kaidan festival,' this event uniquely blends classical and modern storytelling, dramatic performances by actors, and real-life kaidan told by professional storytellers. In 2026, the event is being upgraded with the addition of top-tier voice actors alongside actors. Additionally, a special 'Kaidan Festival Performance' will be held, featuring an all-star lineup of popular kaidan storytellers. This summer, 'Tokyo Kaidan Collection2026' will bring together masters of performance, voice, and ghost stories to deliver an unforgettable experience.
Performers include actress Tamaru Rei, as well as Misaki Sakayama and Tamami Sakaguchi, who will bring the world of dramatic readings to life.
Joining them are acclaimed voice actors such as Haruki Ishiya, Junya Enoki, Kazuyuki Okitsu, Hajime Sato, Tatsuhisa Suzuki, Isamu Hirano, and Yoshimasa Hosoya, alongside popular talents like Maaya Uchida, Mihono Ogasaki, Natsumi Takamori, Rika Matsumoto, and Kotono Mitsuishi.
A total of 23 popular kaidan storytellers will appear on a rotating daily basis. Additionally, on the evenings of August 7 and 8 during the performance period, a special kaidan-focused event called the 'Kaidan Festival' will be held, featuring an all-star lineup of storytellers.
