Born in Okayama Prefecture. Graduated from Kyoto University, Faculty of Integrated Human Studies, and completed a master's degree at Kyoto University Graduate School of Human and Environmental Studies. Awarded the 48th Japan Children's Literature Writers Association Award for 'St. Elmo's Light: Spring and Summer of Hisashino High School Astronomy Club' and 'Andromeda's Tears: Autumn and Winter of Hisashino High School Astronomy Club' (both Kodansha). Other works include 'Oni no Matsuri' (Kodansha), 'Rainbow Puzzle' and 'Our Graduation Photo' (both Bunken Publishing), and 'Watashi wa Taberu no ga Heta' (Komine Shoten).
