[Tokyo, Omotesando] Brand Reuse x BONSAI Workshop to be Held! 'Eternal Praise for Good Things' as the Theme, at KOMEHYO VINTAGE TOKYO atelier from April 11th~

"KOMEHYO VINTAGE TOKYO atelier" (operated by Komehyo Co., Ltd., Representative Director Yuya Yamauchi, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture), which opened last November, will hold a 7-day limited event 'atelier de RE BONSAI™︎' from Saturday, April 11, 2026, to Friday, April 17, 2026.

As its name suggests, "KOMEHYO VINTAGE TOKYO atelier" develops various projects based on the concept of an 【atelier = a place to create and produce】.

This time, we will collaborate with RE BONSAI™︎, an art form that breathes life into withered bonsai, to hold a limited-time project. We will hold a workshop where customers can actually create and take home their own RE BONSAI™︎ under the guidance of bonsai artist Yoshio Suzuki and the TOUFU TOKYO staff led by Mr. Suzuki, as well as a cherry blossom curation created by everyone. In addition, a special corner featuring vintage & next-vintage items with botanical patterns and colorings related to cherry blossoms will be set up in the store. With BONSAI as the keyword, the design allows customers to enjoy art that can be displayed at home, items to wear, and co-creation at the shop in three ways.

◆ About the Project

Komehyo's vision of "transforming reuse from a 'philosophy' into a 'culture'" met with RE BONSAI™︎'s theme of "regeneration," leading to this realization. In 2024, a workshop was also held at the affiliated store KOMEHYO SHIBUYA and was well received. During the exhibition period, in addition to workshops where participants can experience making their own RE BONSAI™︎, there will be sales of RE BONSAI™︎, and a cherry blossom live installation (all-participant art) where customers can insert cherry blossom branches into a cherry blossom symbol tree set up in the center of the store, creating a spring-like artwork throughout the event period. Furthermore, a special corner featuring botanical patterns, cherry blossom colors, and other vintage & next-vintage items will be set up in the store.

① Cherry Blossom Live Installation (All-participant Art)

A cherry blossom RE BONSAI™︎ will be set up as a symbol tree in the center of the store, where each customer can insert one cherry blossom branch, creating a large-scale "Cherry Blossom RE BONSAI™︎" artwork full of spring throughout the event period. Anyone who purchases a product at KOMEHYO VINTAGE TOKYO atelier can participate.

② RE BONSAI™︎ Goods Sales

We will exhibit and sell 100 items, including RE Bonsai, ornaments such as Daruma and Maneki-neko, apparel goods such as T-shirts and hoodies, and other small items such as wind chimes, in a rich variety of sizes and colors.

④ Workshop Held

Date and Time: Daily during the exhibition period 13:00 / 15:00 / 17:00 (Duration: approx. 1 hour per session)

Capacity: 6 people per session (maximum 126 people over 7 days)

Reservations: Walk-ins are generally welcome, but the 17:00 session each day prioritizes "advance reservations."

⑤ Exhibition and Sale of Vintage Items Derived from Cherry Blossom Wood and Botanicals

A special corner will also be set up for vintage items derived from cherry blossom wood and botanicals. We will collect items that have high affinity with RE BONSAI™︎ from various perspectives, not only patterns but also items using wood and rattan as materials.

◆ What is "RE BONSAI™︎"?

Theme: 'Regeneration'

RE BONSAI™︎ is an art that breathes life into withered bonsai.

Bonsai that should live for many years.

Among them, many wither due to lifespan or mistakes.

These are carefully selected, the soil is removed, the whole is thoroughly dried, and unnecessary branches and roots are pruned and trimmed.

Then, uniquely dried leaves or preserved branches are attached to add innovative charm to the original bonsai's historical feel, creating a one-of-a-kind art piece.

We create art that is unique in form, sentiment, and Japanese traditional culture, both in the past and future, and nowhere else in the world.

◆ Who is Bonsai Artist Yoshio Suzuki?

Bonsai artist Yoshio Suzuki breathes new life into withered bonsai.

Although he is a bonsai artist, he does not cultivate living bonsai. He produces "RE BONSAI™️," which are upcycled bonsai that have ended their life activities, withered, and were destined for disposal. These are dried and then new, colorful branches and leaves are attached to them as art.

He loves fashion and is sensitive to trends, often visiting Shibuya since junior high school. He enjoys active pursuits such as SK8, surfing, and snowboarding, and bonsai was one of his many hobbies.

He initially displayed bonsai purely for interior decoration, but bonsai need to be grown outdoors and watered daily, so they quickly withered. Even succulents like cacti or relatively easy houseplants wither if not watered. He started this project with the desire to enjoy plants purely as interior decoration without these problems, and to display real plants, bonsai, indoors, not artificial flowers.

RE BONSAI™️ works handled by TOUFU TOKYO can be seen from the streets of Shibuya to the luxury department store Shinjuku Isetan Men's Building and Disney Store.

What is KOMEHYO VINTAGE TOKYO atelier?

Opened on November 28, 2025, this is Komehyo's second vintage specialty store in the Omotesando area of Tokyo. As its name suggests, it plans to develop based on the concept of an 【atelier = a place to create and produce】. It offers a wide range of next-vintage items*1 that are not bound by age, as well as men's and unisex items not handled by the first store. Together with the first store, which is a one-minute walk away, it is designed to allow couples and families to enjoy shopping for Komehyo quality vintage items.
