Background and Objectives of the Demonstration Experiment

In Yamanashi Prefecture, 'heart disease' ranks first among diseases of certified care recipients. Long-term ECG monitoring is effective for early detection of heart disease risks, but traditional health checkups and human dock exams, which involve only about 15 seconds of ECG recording, often miss transient arrhythmias. Additionally, business professionals face psychological and time-related barriers such as 'being too busy to visit a clinic' or 'thinking it's not a big deal'.

This demonstration experiment aimed to verify a model that provides a 24-hour testing system usable at home or work, supporting end-to-end care from early detection to treatment at local medical institutions.

Results and Achievements of the Demonstration Experiment

Proof of High Screening Effectiveness

The experiment involved 94 employees from two cooperating local companies (Assist Engineering Co., Ltd. and Kofu Shinkin Bank). While typical health checkups detect arrhythmias in about 10% of cases, this pilot identified arrhythmia signs in 31% (5% or 5 individuals classified as 'caution' or Grade C). Additionally, signs of sleep apnea syndrome (SAS) were detected in 36% (16% or 15 individuals classified as 'caution'), significantly contributing to the early visualization of asymptomatic 'hidden risks'.

Of the 5 individuals identified as having arrhythmia risks ('caution' Grade C), 4 used an online clinic.
