The Edogawa Ranpo Award (organized by the Japan Mystery Writers Association), the premier gateway for Japanese mystery writers, has been publicly soliciting full-length mystery novels (350-550 pages) and has produced major new talents and masterpieces, from Etsuko Niki's 'The Cat Knew' in the 1957 fiscal year to Yu Nomiya's 'The Assassin's Sales Method' last year.
This year, the number of submissions reached a high of 465 entries. The preliminary selection has already concluded, and the four finalists are currently being carefully read by the selection committee. The winning work will be announced on Wednesday, May 20th.
