Yuu Nagira's Japan Booksellers' Award-winning novel to be performed as a stage reading with a star-studded cast! Stage Reading 'You, Like the Stars' confirmed for May 2026 at Kokumin Kyosai coop Hall / Space Zero!

The novel 'You, Like the Stars' by Yuu Nagira, which won the 2023 Japan Booksellers' Award and has surpassed 1 million copies in series circulation, will be adapted into a stage reading. The production is scheduled to run from May 21 (Thursday) to May 31 (Sunday), 2026, at the Kokumin Kyosai coop Hall / Space Zero.

High school students Akimi Inoue and Kai Aono meet on an island in the Seto Inland Sea.

Both carrying their own sense of loneliness and loss, they find salvation in each other's presence.

Between Tokyo and the island, dreams and reality, and the shackles of family, they live their respective lives, yet neither ever fades from the other's heart.

This 15-year trajectory of love will be depicted through the delicate expressions unique to a stage reading.

The role of the protagonist Akimi Inoue will be played by (in Japanese alphabetical order): Momo Asakura, Miku Ito, Karin Isobe, Sumire Uesaka, Moeka Koizumi, Yuria Sato, Riko Tanaka, Yumiri Hanamori, Misato Fukuen, and Hina Yomiya. The role of the other protagonist, Kai Aono, will be played by (in Japanese alphabetical order): Motohiro Ota, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Ryohei Kimura, Takuya Sato, Toshiyuki Toyonaga, Kotaro Nishiyama, and Keigo Hagiya. A luxurious cast of popular and talented performers will appear in rotating shifts.

Additionally, Takuya Uehara, Natsuki Osaki, Ema Tenma, and Mio Kadoshima will appear in all performances to add color to the work.

The script and direction are handled by Daisuke Nishida, who leads the company DisGOONie and has worked on numerous stage productions.
