Kazuo Umezu's 1960s 'Nakayoshi' Appendix Manga Reissued in a BOX Set for 90th Birthday Commemoration

To commemorate Kazuo Umezu's 90th birthday, a BOX set featuring five selected 'Nakayoshi Book' series, originally appendix manga for the 'Nakayoshi' girls' magazine from 1966 to 1968, has been released. The reissue, titled 'Screaming Girls Edition,' meticulously reproduces the original size, specifications, dialogue, colors, advertisements, and reader pages. The 'Nakayoshi Book' series, created by Kazuo Umezu, consisted of 15 volumes published from August 1966 to March 1968 as appendices to the 'Nakayoshi' magazine. This series primarily featured Umezu's representative shojo horror manga. The reissue includes unique illustrations such as newly drawn covers and character introductions. Due to their original status as magazine appendices, well-preserved copies of the 'Nakayoshi Book' series are rare in the market, making this reissue valuable. The BOX set is priced at 8800 yen (tax included) and was released on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. The included titles are: 'Akai Chou no Shoujo' (1967 'Nakayoshi' New Year's Special Appendix), 'Madara no Shoujo' (1967 'Nakayoshi' July Appendix), 'Neko Me no Shoujo' (1967 'Nakayoshi' September Appendix), 'Nemuri Shoujo' (1968 'Nakayoshi' New Year's Special Appendix), and 'Hebi Shoujo' (1968 'Nakayoshi' March Appendix).
