Starting Monday, March 30, 2026, Kodansha will launch the 4th installment of its 'MANGA MANNERS' etiquette campaign, featuring globally popular manga series, within Tokyo Metro and Tobu Railway stations and trains. This edition adds three new titles—'Witch Hat Atelier,' 'Darwin's Incident,' and 'Space Brothers'—and introduces new etiquette guidelines aimed at helping international visitors enjoy a comfortable experience on Japan's railways.

'MANGA MANNERS' debuted in October 2024 as a massive welcome wall at the immigration area of Narita Airport Terminal 2. Following its success, the second installment was launched in April 2025 at Tokaido Shinkansen stations, anticipating high traffic due to the Osaka-Kansai Expo. A third installment followed in November 2025 in Kyoto, a premier tourist destination. This fourth installment will now be featured on Tokyo Metro and Tobu Railway lines.

As with previous campaigns, we consulted with Tokyo Metro and Tobu Railway to address specific railway etiquette challenges. New guidelines include: 'Please refrain from taking photos that may inconvenience other passengers in stations or on trains,' 'Please set your phone to silent mode and refrain from making calls on trains,' and 'Please leave the area near the doors clear when boarding or alighting.' Combined with continuing guidelines from previous campaigns, a total of 12 manga series will promote 12 etiquette points. We hope that not only international visitors but also regular commuters will enjoy learning about Japanese railway etiquette through this campaign.
