Railway Enthusiast Family Tour Launched to Support Summer Vacation Research Projects

Club Tourism Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Koto City, Tokyo; President: Hiroshi Sakai; hereinafter 'Club Tourism') announces the launch of sales on Thursday, July 16, 2026, for the 'Deepen Your Passion: JR Central × Gakunan Electric Railway Full Railway Experience Tour'—a special educational travel program designed for children aged elementary school and below. This initiative is conducted in collaboration with Central Japan Railway Company (Headquarters: Nagoya, Aichi; President: Shunsuke Niwa; hereinafter 'JR Central'), Gakunan Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Fujinomiya City, Shizuoka; President: Soichi Okuda; hereinafter 'Gakunan Electric Railway'), and Asahi Gakken Sink Quest Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinagawa City, Tokyo; President: Hiroshi Maruyama).

This unique tour offers participants rare access to normally restricted railway facilities. Starting from Shizuoka Station, guests will board a dedicated group train that enters the Shizuoka Rolling Stock Depot, allowing them to experience passing through the train washing line and entering the maintenance shed—all while remaining on board. At Gakunan Fujio Station, visitors will tour the railway vehicle factory and enjoy exclusive experiences such as sitting in the driver’s cab of an electric locomotive.

The tour is designed to deepen understanding of railway operations and careers, offering an engaging and educational experience for families. It caters not only to railway enthusiasts but also to families seeking meaningful activities for children’s summer vacation research projects.

[Tour Highlights]

◆ Enter JR Central’s Shizuoka Rolling Stock Depot via a dedicated group train and experience passing through the train washing line and entering the maintenance shed while remaining on board.

◆ Onboard the 313 series 8000-numbered train, children (elementary school age and below) can wear children’s train crew uniforms, make onboard announcements, sit in the driver’s cab, and attend a 'Job Introduction' session led by actual train crew members.

◆ At Gakunan Electric Railway’s vehicle factory, participants will view undercarriage equipment and board an electric locomotive on display at the 'Gakuten Locomotive Plaza,' where former train operators will provide live commentary.

◆ At Gakunan Electric Railway’s Yoshiwara Station, guests will use actual station staff tools—date stamp machines and ticket punchers—to stamp and punch commemorative paper tickets. They will also have the opportunity to lift and feel the weight of real railroad crossing barriers and railway tracks.
