Daito Kentaku Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Kei Takeuchi) has conducted one of the largest residential satisfaction surveys and compiled the results into the 'E-heya Net Livability Ranking 2026 <Yamanashi Version>' and 'E-heya Net Desired Residential Area Ranking 2026 <Yamanashi Version>'.
Key highlights of the 'Livability Ranking 2026 <Yamanashi Version>' include Showa Town, Nakakoma District, securing the top spot for the seventh consecutive year. Hokuto City ranked second and Kai City third, both maintaining their positions for the second year. Showa Town features convenient living environments such as supermarkets and Aeon Malls, and its population is on an upward trend. It also offers excellent access to the Kofu-Showa IC and convenient public transport to Kofu Station, ranking first in five out of eight evaluation factors. Chuo City, which was 6th last year, rose to 5th.
In the 'Desired Residential Area Ranking 2026 <Yamanashi Version>', Tokyo's 23 wards ranked first for the fifth consecutive year. Kofu City came in second, while Showa Town and Yokohama City tied for third. Three of the top five municipalities are located outside Yamanashi Prefecture, indicating high interest in areas outside the prefecture. Furthermore, 77.5% of respondents expressed a positive view of their current town, either wanting to continue living there or having no specific desire to move.
The survey was conducted with a total of 4,650 respondents, aggregating data from 2022 to 2026 (with some data from 2019-2021 included).
