Kansai Airports Co., Ltd. announced the installation of "Muskoka Chairs" and "Timber Tiles" from the Canada Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, at Kansai International Airport Terminal 1, International Departure Area. The "EXPO Legacy Project" aims to continue the cultural, value, and sustainability messages from Expo 2025 through the airport. The Canada Pavilion at Expo 2025 showcased Canada's nature, culture, and sustainability efforts. The current installation at Kansai International Airport provides airport users with an experience of Canadian nature and culture. A commemorative ceremony was held on April 13, 2026, with Canadian government representative Laurie Peters, marking the continuation of the Expo 2025 legacy at the airport. Kansai Airports Group aims to develop the airport beyond a mere transportation hub into a place where culture and values intersect. Muskoka Chairs are red chairs installed by Parks Canada in national historic sites and national parks across Canada, offering visitors a place to relax and connect with nature and cultural heritage. They were popular at the Expo 2025 Canada Pavilion. Timber Tiles are environmentally friendly wooden tiles made from sustainably harvested hemlock wood from Canada's west coast. Developed over five years, these tiles leverage natural wood grain and color tones while being lightweight and durable. Installation location: Kansai International Airport Terminal 1, 2nd floor, International Departure Area (near gates 17 and 18). Exhibition period: Planned for over 3 years.
