Kanro Inc. In recent years, as the world demands action on climate change, the Japanese government has set a goal of achieving '2050 Carbon Neutrality'—net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050—and is supporting corporate decarbonization investments. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) provides support through the 'Tax System for Promoting Investment in Carbon Neutrality,' which offers tax credits or special depreciation for companies that introduce equipment that simultaneously achieves decarbonization and value-added growth in production processes, based on the Industrial Competitiveness Enhancement Act.*

Guided by its corporate purpose, 'Sweeten the Future,' Kanro is conducting business activities to contribute to a sustainable future for people and society, in line with the 'Kanro Vision 2.0' announced in 2025.

Under this plan, to achieve both the growth of its core gummy business and a reduction in environmental impact, Kanro will introduce a state-of-the-art gummy production line at its Asahi Factory. This will increase value-added output, with the goal of improving company-wide carbon productivity by 21.4% or more, and Asahi Factory's carbon productivity by 2.1%, between fiscal years 2026 and 2028.

As a manufacturer primarily engaged in food production, and because the plan targets the gummy production line central to its business, Kanro has been certified for 'Business Adaptation for Reducing Environmental Impact of Energy Use.'

3. Content of Initiatives: Construct a new gummy production line at the Asahi Factory, expanding from a 2-line to a 3-line production system. By introducing the latest gummy production technology, production efficiency will be improved compared to existing lines, thereby increasing value-added output and improving carbon productivity by 2.1% by the target fiscal year.
