In recent years, as the world demands action on climate change, the Japanese government has set a goal of achieving '2050 Carbon Neutrality'—net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050—and is supporting corporate decarbonization investments. Under the Act on Strengthening Industrial Competitiveness, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) provides support through the 'Tax System for Promoting Investment in Carbon Neutrality,' offering tax credits or special depreciation for companies that introduce equipment that simultaneously achieves decarbonization of production processes and increases added value.

Guided by its corporate purpose, 'Sweeten the Future,' Kanro is developing business activities to contribute to a sustainable future for people and society, in line with its 'Kanro Vision 2.0' announced in 2025.

In this plan, to balance the growth of its core gummy business with environmental impact reduction, Kanro will introduce a state-of-the-art gummy production line at its Asahi Factory. This will increase added value, with the goal of improving company-wide carbon productivity by 21.4% or more, and Asahi Factory's carbon productivity by 2.1%, between fiscal years 2026 and 2028.

As a manufacturer primarily engaged in food production, and because the gummy production line related to its core business is the subject of this plan, Kanro has been certified for 'Business Adaptation for Reducing Environmental Impact of Energy Use.' 2. Productivity Improvement Goal: Improve carbon productivity by 21.4% or more.

3. Content of Initiatives: Construct a new gummy production line at the Asahi Factory, expanding from a two-line to a three-line production system. By introducing the latest gummy production technology, production efficiency will be improved compared to existing lines, thereby increasing added value and achieving a 2.1% improvement in carbon productivity by the target fiscal year.
