Kakugo Inc. (Headquarters: Takahama City, Aichi Prefecture) provides management improvement support centered on "systemization" for small and medium-sized enterprises in the manufacturing industry, from various perspectives such as human resources, buildings, and operations. We recently held a lecture and reception for the entire holdings group to commemorate the completion of our new office building.
For this lecture, we invited Dr. Yoko Kato, a neurosurgeon, who gave a talk on the theme of "How to Create a Divine Mental." Additionally, during the office tour, we explained how companies link and implement "ways of working" with "places (offices and factories)."
In recent years, corporate working styles have been changing significantly due to the promotion of DX and organizational reforms. However, in many cases, "places" and "individual conditions" are not keeping pace with these changes.
For example: - Introducing free address, but it effectively becomes fixed seating. - Required inter-departmental collaboration is physically fragmented. - Systems and mechanisms are in place but do not function effectively on the ground. - Individual conditions are not met, and original performance is not demonstrated.
We believe that the accumulation of multiple "mismatches" such as "ways of working," "places," and "individual feelings" leads to organizational stagnation and inefficiency.
If the place and people do not catch up even if the way of working changes, the organization will not move. We believe that change only functions when mechanisms and reality align, and employees' awareness is unified.
Kakugo's Practice | Designing the New Office 'Around the Way of Working' Our company also faced similar challenges in our former office.
As we shifted to a system that provides cross-functional services within a design divided by department, consultation and collaboration became difficult, and concentrating everything on one floor created space shortages.
"The way of working has changed, but the place has not caught up." This mismatch constrained the organization's operations.
Therefore, for this new office, we redesigned it with the core concept of "designing the place according to the way of working."
- Introduction of free address and operational design to make it functional. - Layout that promotes cross-team communication. - Spatial design for purposes such as meetings, concentration, and breaks.
It is designed with the premise of "changing ways of working," not merely updating facilities.
