Global Learner’s Institute (GLI), an English educational institution supporting students aiming for domestic and international boarding schools, will hold its experiential learning program, "Field Trip Plus," on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
The theme for this session is "Disaster Prevention and Safety Measures."
Taking place at the Ikebukuro Life Safety Learning Center in Tokyo, the program aims to foster the ability to take action in emergencies through hands-on experience.
Why study "Disaster Prevention" now?
In Japan, where natural disasters are a part of daily life, it is essential to possess not just knowledge, but the ability to actually take action. This program helps students acquire practical knowledge and judgment regarding disaster prevention, empowering them to protect themselves and their families.
A 3-Step Design to Deepen Learning
GLI’s field trips go beyond simple observation, consistently following a "Learn → Experience → Share" structure.
① Learn
Study the types of natural disasters and specific countermeasures through exhibits and explanations at the Safety Learning Center.
② Experience
・Earthquake simulator
・Smoke experience (evacuation drill)
・Firefighting training
Participate in practical disaster prevention activities.
③ Share
Present the day’s learnings in English (60–90 seconds) to solidify understanding into "usable knowledge."
The day will also include interviews and discussions in English centered on the theme of "natural disasters," fostering both the acquisition of knowledge and the ability to think and communicate in English.
Maximizing Results with Pre-learning
Pre-learning will be held on Saturday, April 18, at the GLI Hiroo Second Classroom. By organizing basic knowledge and questions beforehand, the quality of learning on the day of the event is enhanced. (Materials and worksheets will be provided even for those unable to attend.)
Reliable Support System
Students who are not confident in their English skills need not worry. Staff will accompany the group to provide support for both comprehension and communication.
