Global Learner’s Institute (GLI), an English educational institution supporting students aiming for domestic and international boarding schools, will hold its experiential learning program, "Field Trip Plus," on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
The theme for this session is "Disaster Prevention and Safety Measures."
Taking place at the Ikebukuro Life Safety Learning Center in Tokyo, the program aims to cultivate the ability to take action in emergencies through hands-on experience.
Why Learn About 'Disaster Prevention' Now?
In Japan, where natural disasters are a part of daily life, possessing the ability to "actually take action" is just as essential as having knowledge. This program helps students acquire practical knowledge and decision-making skills regarding disaster prevention, empowering them to protect themselves and their families.
A 3-Step Design to Deepen Learning
GLI's field trips go beyond simple observation by consistently following a "Learn → Experience → Share" structure.
① Learn
Learn about types of natural disasters and specific countermeasures through exhibits and explanations at the Safety Learning Center.
② Experience
・Earthquake simulator
・Smoke experience (evacuation drill)
・Fire extinguishing training
Experience practical disaster prevention activities.
③ Share
Present the day's learnings in English (60–90 seconds).
→ Solidifying understanding into "usable knowledge."
Interviews and discussions in English centered on the theme of "natural disasters" are also planned for the day. In addition to acquiring knowledge, students will simultaneously develop the ability to think and communicate in English.
Maximizing Results with Pre-Learning
Pre-learning will be conducted on Saturday, April 18, at the GLI Hiroo Second Classroom. By organizing basic knowledge and questions, students can enhance the quality of their learning on the day of the event.
*Materials and worksheets will be provided even if students cannot attend the pre-learning session.
Reliable Support System
Students who are not confident in their English skills need not worry. Staff will accompany the group throughout the day to support both comprehension and communication.
