Background of the Event

In Japan, with the rapid growth of the semiconductor industry, approximately 40,000 semiconductor professionals are estimated to be needed by the top 9 companies alone over the next 10 years (※). Furthermore, the global semiconductor market is expected to expand to approximately $1 trillion by 2026, making talent development a national imperative.

On the other hand, high school education primarily focuses on theory, and opportunities to acquire practical skills are currently limited.

In response to this situation, our company developed "GAKUSEE MI," an educational platform that provides practical semiconductor education from the high school stage. It was officially released on April 1, 2026, as a service that addresses the semiconductor education needs within the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "N-E.X.T. High School Concept."

In collaboration with the Saga Prefectural Board of Education, we have implemented the "SEIRENKATA Project," an industrial innovation talent development program for high school students, for two years. Through this initiative, we have accumulated on-site knowledge regarding the conditions under which inquiry-based learning functions and the factors that lead to its formalization.

In this webinar, based on that practical knowledge, we will introduce a concrete educational model that corresponds to the N-E.X.T. High School Concept and explain specific approaches to balance compliance with the system and practical implementation on site.

About "GAKUSEE MI"

"GAKUSEE MI" is a semiconductor EDA (Electronic Design Automation) education platform for high school students. It primarily targets "Advanced Essential Worker Training Support" hub schools under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "N-E.X.T. High School Concept," and was launched as a cloud-based web platform on April 1, 2026.

Through this service, we aim to bring about a paradigm shift from the conventional wisdom that "semiconductor education is difficult in high schools" and contribute to the development of next-generation talent who will support Japan's semiconductor industry.

Three Features

・ Authentic design practice using EDA tools

The platform is equipped with an EDA tool environment used in actual work. Students can experience practical circuit design. A curriculum is prepared for high school students to learn step-by-step, allowing them to acquire the basic skills necessary to become a design engineer in the future.

・ Acquisition of operational skills through video learning

Video content explaining how to operate EDA tools step-by-step is provided. Students can learn repeatedly at any time, allowing them to improve their skills at their own pace.

・ Visualization of learning outcomes through portfolio function

Learning history and design works are automatically saved on the platform, visualizing progress and achievement. This data can be accumulated as achievement records useful for career guidance and job hunting.

Future Development

Kimura Information Technology Co., Ltd. will support practical learning in the semiconductor field in high school education through "GAKUSEE MI" and contribute to the development of next-generation talent who will support Japan's semiconductor industry.

Going forward, we will expand the introduction to educational institutions, strengthen initiatives for human resource development in collaboration with industry, and aim to build a new learning model that connects education and industry.
