The Edo-Tokyo Museum opened in 1993 as a place to reflect on the history and culture of Edo and Tokyo and to contemplate the cities and lifestyles of the future. Following large-scale renovation work that began in April 2022 and lasted approximately four years, it will celebrate its reopening on March 31, 2026. This renewal features new spatial designs, improved barrier-free accessibility, and an expanded library, refreshing the facility as a more open museum.

For this renewal, JTOWER implemented 4G and 5G communication environments at the Edo-Tokyo Museum simultaneously using an indoor infrastructure sharing solution that consolidates communication equipment from multiple mobile carriers. By utilizing infrastructure sharing, the project achieves more efficient network development that is environmentally conscious, reducing space requirements, power consumption, materials, and construction man-hours. Furthermore, the improvement in the communication environment will contribute to further enhancing the customer experience.

JTOWER launched its commercial indoor infrastructure sharing solution in 2014. Since then, it has steadily increased the number of installations across a wide range of facility categories, including commercial facilities, office buildings, hospitals, government facilities, logistics facilities, arenas, and exhibition halls. In 2020, the company completed the development of shared equipment compatible with 5G and has been strengthening its structure by scaling up deployments. With 768 installed properties (total number of indoor infrastructure sharing properties installed in Japan, including 4G/5G, as of December 2025), the company boasts the leading track record in Japan.

As a pioneer in infrastructure sharing, JTOWER will continue to maximize the technology and expertise it has cultivated in the telecommunications field to contribute to the digitalization of society.

[About the Edo-Tokyo Museum] https://www.edo-tokyo-museum.or.jp/

[What is Infrastructure Sharing?] Infrastructure sharing allows for the shared use of network equipment that was previously installed individually by each mobile carrier. Compared to individual installations by mobile carriers, this reduces costs related to equipment, operation, and maintenance, enabling more efficient network development. Furthermore, it leads to a reduction in environmental impact by decreasing power consumption, materials, and the number of construction instances.

[About Indoor Infrastructure Sharing Solutions] In large buildings with a total floor area exceeding 10,000 square meters, there is a high need to improve the indoor mobile signal environment. Utilizing infrastructure sharing for indoor signal environment development offers benefits such as space saving, reduced electricity costs, and a single point of contact for real estate operators; reduced capital investment and operating costs for mobile carriers; and improved satisfaction for mobile users through a better communication environment. https://www.jtower.co.jp/service/indoor/
