JTB Publishing, a member of the JTB Group providing travel and lifestyle information, conducted a web survey on 'Travel and Coffee' for readers of its monthly magazine 'Nodule' (an annual subscription magazine) targeting those aged 50 and over. Survey Overview: Period: March 12–16, 2026. Method: Web survey. Target: Nodule readers (newsletter subscribers only). Valid responses: 1,336. 96.3% of travel-loving seniors drink coffee. When asked about their coffee habits, 96.3% of respondents said they like coffee. Among those who like coffee, 37.3% drink two cups a day, followed by one cup (24.8%) and three cups (23.6%). Most people prefer to drink coffee indoors, with 92.2% drinking at home, 42.1% at cafes, and 38.5% at work. When traveling, 39% drink coffee out of habit, 32.3% for a break, and 16.3% visit cafes as a destination. 41% prefer traditional 'kissaten' (old-school coffee shops) when traveling. Notably, 86.1% of respondents believe that a relaxing coffee time significantly or somewhat impacts their overall travel satisfaction. The April issue of 'Nodule' features a special on 'Solo Travel to Coffee Towns,' introducing unique coffee cultures in Fukuoka and Aichi.
