NEC is launching sales of usage licenses for a DNS security function (Note 2) that integrates with Soliton Systems' "Soliton DNS Guard" (Note 1) for its enterprise VPN router, the "UNIVERGE IX-R series." This function is realized through connection with the cloud-based integrated management service "NetMeister" (Note 3). Simultaneously, a RADIUS authentication function (Note 4) combining the IX-R series with "NetMeister Prime" is also being released.

[Background] In recent years, as digitalization accelerates and the burden of maintaining IT infrastructure increases, there is a shortage of network engineers with advanced skills. Consequently, an increasing number of small and medium-sized enterprises are facing challenges in implementing security measures and managing related equipment. Furthermore, the volume of network traffic in companies is rising due to remote meetings and the shift to the cloud, creating a demand for lightweight security measures that do not strain network lines.

[Features of this Service] 1. DNS Security Function By operating at the DNS layer—the initial stage of the communication process—it is possible to detect and block access to threats and websites inappropriate for business. This reduces device load, allowing for enhanced security while maintaining router performance and minimizing the impact on network lines. Additionally, because this function allows for report output and security log confirmation via a web browser through the cloud-based integrated management service "NetMeister," the effectiveness of the security measures can be visualized. Furthermore, policy settings such as access control can be performed in bulk from the NetMeister management screen, reducing the man-hours required for setup and operation without the need for advanced skills. Through these features, we provide an easily deployable and effective network security environment for small and medium-sized enterprises.

2. RADIUS Authentication Function By using the UNIVERGE IX-R series as the authentication server and the UNIVERGE QX series as the authentication client, an IEEE 802.1X authentication environment is realized. Since authentication information is stored in the cloud, it is easy to build an authentication system that spans multiple locations, and one-stop support is available up to the issuance of CA certificates (Note 5). Furthermore, by eliminating the need for individual management with network equipment management systems, operational man-hours and human burden can be reduced.

[Sales Price, Launch Date, Shipping Date, and Sales Target] RADIUS Authentication Function: This function is available with the currently sold NetMeister Prime license.

Sales Target: Aiming for 4 billion yen in sales over the next five years. *This license must be purchased for each device used.

Through these services, NEC supports the development of secure network usage environments in companies and contributes to reducing the risks of cyberattacks and information leaks. Additionally, by reducing operational burdens, we contribute to addressing the social issue of IT talent shortages.

Regarding DX, NEC provides end-to-end services, including offerings that lead from strategic consulting to implementation, across three axes: business models, technology, and organization/talent. Furthermore, aiming to evolve from a traditional SIer to a "Value Driver," we have organized our value creation model as "BluStellar" (Note 6). By leveraging advanced cross-industry insights and refined cutting-edge technology, we transform business models and lead the resolution of social and customer management issues.
