NEC conducted a "Survey of Challenges and Digital Utilization in Supply Chain Management" targeting 216 managers (equivalent to department or section chiefs) in supply chain-related operations at manufacturing companies with 300 or more employees, with the aim of clarifying the current state of challenges and digital utilization in the supply chain management domain. Towards 2030, the environment surrounding the manufacturing industry is rapidly changing, with intensifying transport shortages, stricter regulations, and the need to address decarbonization, making supply chain optimization a top management priority. This survey report presents detailed findings and practical points on how to redesign core decision-making processes such as demand forecasting and supply planning. Key topics include environmental changes surrounding the manufacturing industry and the necessity of advanced supply chains, survey results, and challenges and countermeasures. The survey was conducted online from March 3 to March 4, 2026. For inquiries, contact NEC AI Business Strategy Division, AI Business Development Group, E-Mail: blustellar_ai@pmk.jp.nec.com.
