Member, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) "Study Group on the Future of the Simultaneous Market"

Member, METI "Study Group on Next-Generation Distributed Power Systems"

Member, OCCTO "Committee on Balancing Capacity and Supply-Demand Balance Evaluation"

Member, OCCTO "Study Group on Future Electricity Supply and Demand Scenarios"

[Lecture Overview]

The essence of the electricity business, in accordance with Articles 2 through 4 of the Basic Act on Energy Policy, lies in ensuring a stable supply, maximizing the suppression of electricity rates, and expanding choices for consumers and business opportunities for operators. While the electricity system reform was introduced to achieve these goals, many challenges remain.

Looking ahead, securing decarbonized power infrastructure to respond to DX and GX is an urgent task, as explicitly stated in the "7th Strategic Energy Plan." Given recent energy security concerns, how will the "Capacity Market," "Balancing Market," and the upcoming "Simultaneous Market" and "Mid-to-Long-Term Trading Market" evolve?

The lecturer, who has served on committees for the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy and the Organization for Cross-regional Coordination of Transmission Operators (OCCTO), and who was involved in drafting the "Basic Act on Energy Policy" (the "Constitution of the Energy Industry"), will provide a broad perspective on electricity supply and demand toward 2050 and the future of each market.
