About the Japan Package Design Awards / JAPAN PACKAGE DESIGN AWARDS

This is a competition organized by the Japan Package Design Association (JPDA), a public interest incorporated association, which widely solicits entries through public calls for selection. Professionals in the field of package design gather to compete on the design and creativity of their works.

Held biennially since 1985, this marks the 22nd iteration, aiming to elevate the social status of package design and to create a platform to honor excellent work.

A key characteristic is that evaluation is conducted from the perspective of package designers, emphasizing not only aspects as packaging materials related to production, distribution, and environment, but also design value and product creation viewpoints.

Through rigorous screening by member judges and external special judges from approximately 1,000 entries, the Grand Prize, Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards by category, as well as Special Judges' Awards, are selected.

Award-winning and selected entries are published in print, and award-winning works are exhibited in traveling exhibitions (planned in Tokyo and other locations). Furthermore, the Grand Prize and Gold award-winning works are preserved in their original form in the association's archives.
