Japan Post Real Estate Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Akira Ikeda) and Japan Post Co., Ltd. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Shinya Koike) will switch the electricity used in the properties they own (office buildings and commercial facilities listed below), including electricity used by tenants, to electricity derived effectively from renewable energy (*1) starting in April 2026.
(*1) What is effectively renewable energy electricity?
This refers to electricity that is considered effectively derived from renewable energy by attaching 'renewable energy certificates,' such as non-fossil fuel certificates, which prove that the electricity was generated using renewable energy sources.
1. Overview
The Japan Post Group aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 46% by fiscal year 2030 compared to fiscal year 2019, as part of its goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. This initiative is being implemented as part of environmental impact reduction measures based on the Japan Post Group's mission and social responsibility. Furthermore, for the target properties, we will introduce RE100 (*2) compliant plans for the entire building, including not only common areas but also private areas. By doing so, we will contribute to the achievement of RE100 for our tenants.
The total CO2 reduction (*3) expected from this electricity transition is approximately 45,000 tons per year.

An international initiative that brings together the world's most influential businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity.

This is the projected reduction amount equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of each facility converted into CO2 emissions.
