To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 'LOUIS VUITTON for UNICEF' partnership, the Maison announces the auction of the 'Louis Vuitton Unity Time Object'. This unique objet d'art will be exclusively auctioned at Sotheby's from June 9 to 18, 2026, with 100% of the proceeds donated to UNICEF.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the partnership between Louis Vuitton and UNICEF. Guided by a continuous commitment to supporting the most vulnerable children, this year will feature special initiatives paying homage to this decade-long partnership.
This time, the Maison is spotlighting the world of sports, an endless source of inspiration for Louis Vuitton. The centerpiece is a ball crafted from the iconic Monogram canvas. This symbol of football has been reimagined through the lens of watchmaking artistry, resulting in the 'Louis Vuitton Unity Time Object'. The piece combines the unique watchmaking expertise of 'La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton', the excellence of L’Epée 1839, and Louis Vuitton's savoir-faire in trunk making. This unique time object, which sublimates the energy of sports into a bold and hyper-modern creation, is a masterpiece for true connoisseurs to be sold in an exclusive auction with Sotheby's. All proceeds from the sale will be donated to support UNICEF's humanitarian work for vulnerable children.
Mathieu Egou, Artistic Director of the watchmaking studio 'La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton', stated: "We chose the soccer ball as the center of the 'Louis Vuitton Unity Time Object' design. It is a theme the Maison has explored for many years. By seamlessly blending our legacy and modernity with a contemporary vision of time, while subtly incorporating Louis Vuitton's DNA and codes, we were led to create this special art piece."
The 'Louis Vuitton Unity Time Object' is a bold design statement from the Maison. The clock's open-work structure, a masterpiece of construction and design, features hexagonal and pentagonal shapes that recall the original form and pattern of a soccer ball. This iconic geometric shape and original skeleton structure of the clock give it lightness and transparency, highlighting its contemporary design. It also reflects the Maison's symbolic codes, from watchmaking expertise to an unwavering passion for sports and craftsmanship in trunk making.
As a homage to the heritage of trunk making, the hexagons and pentagons of the clock's skeleton structure are expertly linked by golden-colored brackets, studs, and corner protectors. These polished accents evoke the protective parts of a Louis Vuitton trunk, serving here as essential elements of the clock's structure itself.
In this unique piece, time is brought to life through a sculptural gold-colored steel dome that forms the top half of the clock. Two rotating disks indicate hours and minutes, while the open-work structure at the bottom enhances its fluid movement. One rotating cylinder indicates the hour, while another display shows minutes. Adding playfulness and elegance, a minute track featuring Monogram motifs and flowers adorns the piece. Elegant 'Louis Vuitton Paris' signatures are engraved on top of the cylinders.
The time display is further accentuated by diamond rings edging the hexagonal and pentagonal openings where hours and minutes are shown. 144 white diamonds are meticulously hand-set in the hexagons showing hours, while 120 black diamonds are set in the pentagons showing minutes. The monochrome contrast of 1.03 carats of white and black diamonds adds prestige and brilliance, bringing a graphic impact that reminds one of the Maison's jewelry savoir-faire.
