Men's Creative Director Pharrell Williams added his own interpretation to this icon of functional elegance ahead of his debut Spring-Summer 2024 men's collection for Louis Vuitton. He named this new creation 'Speedy P9' in reference to the Pont Neuf bridge in Paris, the setting for the show. The 'P' stands for 'Pont' (bridge), and the number '9' represents 'Nine' or 'Neuf', with 'Neuf' also meaning 'new'. Crafted from select high-quality calfskin, it undergoes a double tanning process and is then drum-rolled to achieve a butter-soft touch and a waxed texture.
